Level 4 provides an Introduction and a Full Diploma in Management (VRQ for UK and IMQ for international students). These aim to give practising and potential middle managers the foundation for their formal development. The programmes have two primary objectives:

• to assist in gaining the knowledge required by a middle manager
  
• to develop middle management skills

Participants will normally be either practising or aspiring middle managers. Whilst there are no formal educational requirements, learners should have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme. Participants will derive most benefit from the programme if they have some prior experience of management – possibly at team leader or first line manager level, though this is not absolutely essential.

Successful candidates may benefit from career enhancement or may progress to any of the further qualifications listed below, according to their circumstances

• Level 4 or 5 S/NVQ in Management depending upon their workplace responsibilities
• Level 5 Executive Diploma in Management
• another qualification at a suitable level within or outside the National Qualifications Framework
