Diploma in management - awarded by The Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM)
How will the participants be assessed

International Management Qualifications are Centre assessed using Standard criteria – with ILM verification taking place in THRDGLs office in Nottingham.

See Appendix 3, 4 and 8.

a) learning hours = 220 full – 45 introduction. Tutor’s will amalgamate the workshop hours (from the attendance register) and with the system generated CPD hours displayed in the ‘Personal Records - Record CPD Hours’ – See Appendix 4.
b) 7 work based assignments – internally assessed for standard and external for framework - for the full certificate each eprogramme session has a standard “pre-set” WBA (see NB below for the introduction certificate) – in the alternative your organization may elect a more varied approach (subject to approval) as is illustrated below:
b1) integrating two WBA’s covering one group (10 – 12 members) plus one individually generated to cover a residential or equivalent learning experience by blending the following activities:
NB8:
For group assignments Appendix 5 & 6 must be completed.
b1.1 the group to produce a video documentary of the event of circa 25 – 30 minute duration
b1.2 the group to also prepare and deliver a 30 – 45 minute PowerPoint presentation and supporting detailed handouts, covering their project activities, personal and team preferences and performance throughout, and the key decisions they took, with an analysis of consequences.
b1.3 individually write a report of circa 1200 words.
One optional residential project is to cover ILM segments 3.1, 3.3, 3.4, 3.6, and four from: 4.2, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, 4.8

Alternatively a residential project could cover four segments from: 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, 6.5 & four from: 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.6

NB9:
if two residential projects are selected then one 2 part video of 45 minutes, one 2 part PowerPoint presentation of 60 minutes and one individual report of 2400 words will be required – these deliverables covering the ILM segments listed above.

NB10:
The consequence of this option is that the B3 assignment will not be needed and B4 can be downgraded to one WBA of 1200 words covering module 2.
b2) Two WBA’s covering one group (3/4 members) plus one individually generated to cover a business simulation learning experience by blending the following activities:
b2.1 the group to prepare and deliver a 30 – 40 minute PowerPoint presentation, (with individual contributions of 10 minutes) and supporting detailed handouts, covering their group’s simulation activities, the key decisions they took, with an analysis of there consequences, etc.
The presentation to cover 4 segments from Module 5
b2.2 individually write a report of circa 1200 words
This report to cover four segments from Module 1
NB11:
for b1 & b2 group members must identifying the contributions of individual members for assessment purposes – see Appendix 5 & 6.

Also in both cases presenters must clearly demonstrate subject knowledge, together with appropriate communication skills, and an ability to select relevant material and present it effectively.

For both presentations written outline notes, cue cards or visual aids must be available to the External Verifier to evidence the candidate’s planning and preparation processes.

Candidates are required to achieve a minimum of half the available marks against each of the assessed criteria

b3) One individual WBA from the seven preset by the ILM (to be supplied on diskette) – each consisting of circa 1200 – 1300 words.
This must cover a module not covered elsewhere.
NB12:
Not required if two B1 residential projects are undertaken.
b4) One individual WBA to take the format of a mini-project and consist of circa 2400 – 2600 words. This WBA to be chosen by the individual, or preset by the satellite site or corporate sponsor – BUT must cover 4 segments from each of two modules not covered elsewhere.

Alternatively one individual WBA of 1200 words covering 4 segments from a module not previously covered if two B1 residential projects are undertaken.

This WBA should set realistic, clearly defined work-based tasks, using live issues and MUST clearly indicate the learning outcomes that are being assessed. These learning outcomes will form the basis of the assessment criteria.

NB13:
Written tutor feedback (supported by oral feedback where time permits during workshops) will be provided using assessment forms

NB14:
ALL wba’s must clearly identify which segments are being covered.

NB15:
In the alternative programme directors or course sponsors may opt for the 7 preset ILM assignments as attached to each eprogramme learning session. A WBA introduction guide is also attached.

NB16:
For the introductory certificate - only one WBA required which is externally assessed

c) a management report of between 4000 – 5000 words – full only (externally assessed for the framework and internal for the standard).
NB17:
A management report guide is attached to the last eprogramme session.
d)

reflective learning – full only. Participants must complete 5 PDP’s achieved via 2 forms Customise Plan and Record CPD Hours – internally assessed – See Appendix 1 & 2.

These forms are accessed online via Personal Records - the tutor will support the participant in there completion.

e)

It will normally be produced at the end of the programme, usually after submitting the Management Report for assessment, encapsulating the PDPs & CPDs completed during the programme (d above). See Appendix 7. It should indicate:

online knowledge verification tests – Effective management is best underpinned by sound knowledge, and this forms the rationale for this optional self test component.

Each module has an optional knowledge verification multi-answer quiz with a pass level of 50%. Candidates must answer 140 questions out of a random bank of 340 covering 35 tested segments and get 70 correct.
